GYC Formed

With roots in town tradition, the Young Collectors of the Greenwich Historical Society is in full bloom. In its freshman season, under the leadship of co-chairs Samantha Knapp and Jen Danzi, the new committee is eager to introduce the Historical Society to a new neighborhood niche of residents between the ages of 21 to 35.

Growing up in Greenwich, Knapp has an keen appreciation for all the hard work the Historical Society does to educate and preserving town history.

“Now that I am older, I see the Historical Society in a new light. I want others to think back on their experiences then or their children’s experiences now and help us keep the legacy going.”

“Our group, isn’t your mom’s committee”, Knapp laughs. “We bring new sensibilities to the table, with ideas to social network and create a forum that is inviting to a new generation.”

Since its inception, in 1931, the Historical Society has collected and preserved the history of Greenwich, Connecticut and promoted awareness of town legacy and tradition through education programs, including tours of Bush-Holley House museum; permanent and changing exhibitions; and lectures.

The Greenwich Historical Society is privately funded non-profit organization accredited by the American Association of Museums. To continue the wonderful work the Historical Society has built its foundation on, fund raising and community awareness are intregal components of the organization.

To get involved, register with the Young Collectors on-line at www.hstg.org or call 203-869-6899, ext 18. Greenwich Historical Society is located at 39 Strickland Road, Cos Cob.
